Dr. Sani Muazu
Climate Change DirectorAbout Me
Dr. Sani Muazu is an award-winning engineer and sustainability expert, bringing over 12 years of experience in engineering and sustainability projects and spearheading cutting-edge innovations that accelerate energy transitions. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to cutting-edge research with real-world impact. His trailblazing Ph.D. framework pioneered novel modelling techniques to optimise city-level climate action planning and emissions reduction in the waste management sector. He recently won the Nigeria AI Research Grant to develop ADA (Automated Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Adaptation Planning Assistant). ADA is an innovative climate risk planning tool that uses a machine learning algorithm to create local climate adaptation plans, helping communities prepare for future risks and build resilience. Previously, his master's research used nanoscience to develop a novel solar thermal flat plate collector. Through collaboration with nanotechnology venture NanoShell Ltd UK, he increased solar thermal heat productivity and demonstrated pathways for clean energy adoption at scale spurred by advanced materials. Dr Muazu's cutting-edge innovations have received grant funding and prizes from the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), the Ministry of Finance Nigeria, the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) of Nigeria, and Kingston University London. He has produced peer-reviewed academic publications and presented research work at international conferences in Portugal and the United Kingdom. He is also a technical reviewer for the renowned journal Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, underscoring wider peer endorsement.
