Ahmad Lawal is a seasoned professional with a strong academic foundation in geography from Usman Danfodio University and advanced studies in international relations and diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University. His specialized training at various Institutions in Germany, Malaysia and Kenya has equipped him with expertise in development cooperation, project evaluation, and strategic management. As a Fellow of the National Institute of Management and Strategic Studies, Ahmad demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and leadership. Serving as the visionary lead of the Centre for Sustainable Development Initiatives, he has driven numerous regional and global initiatives, highlighting his proficiency in food security, sustainable development, and agribusiness value chains. Ahmad's multidisciplinary background and strategic approach position him as a pivotal asset in advancing sustainable development goals and fostering positive societal change. With a proven track record of managing and implementing complex development projects, Ahmad excels in collaborating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and international bodies. Ahmad Lawal's career trajectory demonstrates significant growth and responsibility in the field of agriculture and international development. Starting on July 29, 2009, he took on the role of Technical Assistant to the Honorable Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources, and Rural Development. His dedication and expertise quickly led to his elevation in November 2009 to Technical Advisor (TA) to the Minister. During his tenure, Ahmad's responsibilities expanded as he became involved with the governing council of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome, Italy. This position allowed him to assist the Minister when appointed as Chairman of the governing council. Ahmad's contributions during this period deepened his understanding of the United Nations system and the application of international best practices in agriculture, food security and sustainable development His capabilities were further recognized when President Umaru Musa Yar'adua appointed him as the Pioneer Technical Coordinating Officer for bilateral initiatives and interventions. In this role, Ahmad was instrumental in forging partnerships and driving forward initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and policies. Through these experiences, Ahmad Lawal has established himself as a key player in agriculture, food security, climate action and rural development, demonstrating a commitment to effective governance, international collaboration, and the adoption of best practices for sustainable development.
